Thank You Tropical TrailsHi Mercy,
I am writing to thank you and Tropical Trails for making my recent trip to climb
Kilimanjaro such a great success.
Firstly, the Karama Lodge was a great place to stay and the staff there were very
friendly and helpful and the faciltities were good.
Yourself and the rest of the staff at Tropical Trails made us feel very welcome and you
briefed us well.
On to the trek......
Arasto, our chef did a great job providing us with some excellent food and as I am a
vegetarian he catered for me exceptionally well, although I couldn't eat much towards the
top of Kilimanjaro, this was due to the altitude and not his cooking!
The Porters were excellent and very friendly and did a fantastic job!
The Guides...what can I say? All three made us feel welcome, were knowledgeable, led us
well and spoke excellent English. They were an excellent team. We couldn't have done it
without them.
Firstly, Samuel, our head guide. A fantastic guide and when I got altititude sickness on
Day 2, he helped me get to day 3, which at one point I didn't think I would do.
Gabriel, did an excellent job and really helped some of the others members of our team,
which I know they are very grateful, including getting my sister Lucy down from the
summit.
Finally Philbert, we all thought Philbert was great as he never not stopped smiling, and
as with Samuel and Gabriel was an excellent guide. I will be forever grateful to
Philbert as on the summit day I felt very ill, and for me as I am a professional athelete
in the UK, I found this very hard to accept as I do not like failing and I am very
competitive. I was split from the rest the of the group for a few hours and trekked with
Philbert and he helped me so much, words cannot say how grateful I am.
We all had a fantatsic experience and the best part was that we reached the summit as a
group, this can only be attributed to the team's determination and the skill and help of
the guides, porters, chef and the organisation of Tropical Trails. Thank you.
I have some photos and a card that I would like to send to Philbert. Would it be
possible to send them to the Tropical Trails Address (PO BOX 223, Arusha, Tanzania)?
Thank you once again.
Kind Regards
