Feedback !Hello Mercy,
Back from our African adventure and thought you might like to get some
constructive feed back.
On the whole we had a great holiday and thought it interesting,
educational, scenic and all done in comfort. We very much liked the
Karama lodge in Arusha and we had the best food there on the whole trip.
Would not recommend anyone to stay at the 680 in Nairobi, it was worn
and run down compared to all the other places we stayed in.
But there are a few things that would have made it better-
1. Having more information and advice BEFORE we traveled, the booklet's
you gave us on arrival would have been far more use in advance, we could
have then been able to budget far better had we have known the extent of
the tipping we were expected to pay. I would say that 75% of our
spending money went on tip leaving us very little to buy souvenirs or
anything else.
2. the option to visit a Masai village would again been better to know
in advance.
3. Nobody came to transfer us from Zanzibar airport to our hotel, we
stood for over an hour waiting for someone to turn up and eventually we
persuaded a driver to give us a lift to the hotel. The next day we had
yet another delay with the transfer and they kept us waiting for 1 1/2
hours. They were supposed to turn up at 11am and didn't show until
12.30. It didn't help that we did not know who was transferring us as
you had not given us any information about this and fortunately the
hotel was very kind and rang round all the various agents to find out.
4 There was just not enough information, we needed more detail, phone
numbers should things go wrong, even when it's a National holiday!
5 Again it would have been good to know in advance that our luggage
allowance on our flight to Zanzibar would be quite small due to the size
of the plane and would be expected to pay excess baggage. It would have
been good to know the size of the plane!
6. Sadly my lasting memory will be the constant tipping and hassle for
money, not the amazing animals, and country.
My advise would be to include all tipping into the price of the holiday,
it saves hassle, embarrassment, and allows us to be able to budget
accurately. We found it quite awkward having to give Francis money at
the end and feel that would have been much better if it was inclusive, I
don't like being dictated to about how much I should give as a tip.
All the people we met on the trip felt the same way about this.
Sorry this all sounds negative but this was the trip of a lifetime for
us, it's just a shame that the memory is tarnished by these things. We
did have a good time and if I knew then what I know now I would have
made different choices, but that was down to the fact that I needed more
information at booking stage about the choices I had. I have many
friends that would be interested in this holiday and will recommend you
as a company, but I will warn them about all the above first as it will
be a great help to them.
Regards
