Hi Mercy!!!
 

I know it’s been ages since we saw you in T-Zed…I am so sorry that we have not been in
touch previously…neither of us has stopped to breathe since returning (though we should
have been used to that given the lack of oxygen we experienced at Uhuru!!!).

Anna & I are SO (!!!) incredibly grateful for the experience we had with Tropical
Trails—our summit of Kilimanjaro will be forever among our most treasured memories…and,
apart from the (significant) personal effort of actually climbing, it is to you and to
Arnold, Eusto, Maulidi and the porters that we are immeasurably indebted. Arnold & Eusto
are amazing guides with a seemingly inexhaustible knowledge of the mountain, the country
and the varying conditions that we would face (both internally and externally). I
attribute my success in reaching Uhuru to Anna—she was my inspiration—but I know that
neither of us could have ever imagined achieving it on our own…and to have such guidance
as we had was truly good fortune. Thank you. 


Also, please extend a most heartfelt thank you to Maulidi and his cooks for presenting me
with a delicious birthday cake upon reaching base camp on summit day. Between the high of
reaching the top and that surprise (and the songs they regaled me with), my 30th birthday
was easily my favorite!

I don’t know when we’ll be back through Arusha…but we will be sure to tell all my friends
that have similar adventure streaks to call on you. And, if ever we can be helpful to you
please do not hesitate in contacting us!
